From Exym: April is Stress Awareness Month

Today we're sharing some content from one of our software solutions, Exym.

Stress is something we all experience. It’s a feeling of emotional or physical tension, and it can come from any event or thought that makes you feel frustrated, angry, or nervous. In limited amounts, stress can be positive, such as when it helps you avoid danger or meet a deadline. But when stress lasts for a long time, it can harm your health. Being aware of that and proactively managing stress can improve your mental and physical health.

10 Ways to Manage Stress

Stress Awareness Month is held every April to raise awareness of the causes and cures for our modern stress epidemic.  The last two years have been extremely challenging. In 2020 mental health services were overwhelmed by people that were struggling with stress and seeking support.   Raising awareness about stress and ways to reduce it to improve physical and mental health impacts the entire community. This year the Stress Awareness Month theme is Community.

Lack of support can cause loneliness and isolation, which in turn lowers people’s wellbeing, impacts mental health and can lead to mental illness. This underlines the importance of community in reducing the impacts of stress and mental health issues. Social isolation is an important risk factor for both deteriorating mental health and suicide. As we emerge from the pandemic, people need support and community more than ever.
